UEFA U-17 Ireland is still playing

   The elite round kicks off on Thursday with 32 teams competing over two weeks for 15 places in the expanded finals in Bulgaria this May.

The boy in green are in a group will Poland first. The Senior teams will also be facing off against Poland in the Euro 2016 qualifying.   March 29th at home int eh Aviva Stadium. Let's hope the younger generation can win and inspire the senior team to win also. 


Ireland has a tough draw with Poland playing in Poland. They will have to be ready at the first start of the game. Poland was the 2nd highest rank team after Germany in the opening rounds in POT 1. Ireland was in Pot 2 and were the 3rd ranked team., Belarus was in the 4th in Pot 3 and Greece was the top. team in Pot 4. 

Each game is critical. There are 32 teams left. 
  • Elite round: The 32 teams are drawn into eight groups of four teams. Each group is played in single round-robin format at one of the teams which are appointed as hosts after the draw. The eight group winners and the seven runners-up with the best record against the first and third-placed teams in their group qualify to the final tournament.

All of This groups games will be played in Poland. Poland has a huge advantage here. 

Ireland has won 1 U-17 Championship almost 17 years ago in 1998. Never placed in 2nd 3rd or 4th. 

Poland also won in 1993, runner up in 1999, 3rd place in 1990 and semi-finalist in 2012. 

Greece made the final in 1995 and 3rd place in 1991. They also made the semi-finals twice before 1996 and 2000
