After 2 week we see the old Soldier Bohemians seating atop the league table. Bohemians, Shamrock Rovers, Drogheda and Dundalk all remain undefeated after 2 games. All 4 clubs have 6 points.
Bohemians fans were happy they beat Limerick so convincingly in the first week however Limerick does not have a good team yet. the Boh's then went on and beat Galway U at home. There were only 1,488 fans which is below the league average. This is worrisome since this was opening game at Dalymount.
Shamrock Rovers just beat Longford Town 2-0. This is great for the hoops since this was an away game. They also have a victory over the Saints 1-0 in the first week. The hoops have not been scored on yet. The hoops are the most famous club with the most titles and most FAI Cups. IT is important this club stay near the top.
The Drogh's have beaten Bray and Sligo which one good win and an ok win. Drogheda U may be a surprise team but this is only week 2.
Dundalk has 2 1-0 wins. One over the newly promoted Longford Town at home. Then they beat Derry 1-0 @ the Brandywell. These were 2 good victories for the defending Champions..
St. Pat's lost the opener against cross town rival Shamrock in a very winds day. This affected the entire game and neither team could develop anything with the wind gusts. The Saints then beat Bray 3-0 at home. The Saints have a very deep team and have the promise of Damian Duff joining them this summer. Hopefully it will be for a great Europa League run.
Cork City pounded Limerick 5-0 but it looks like Limerick has a weak team. Cork then tied a good Sligo Rover club 1-1 away at the showgrounds. Turners Cross and Tallaght Stadium will again pace the league in attendance this year.
Derry City lost to the Champions at home and beat newly promoted Galway United away. Derry City also had an outstanding crowd of about 3,000 on their opening home game.
Sligo lost away to Drogh and tied at home against Cork City. They will be ok this year.
Galway United look like they will be competitive but will need a win to increase moral on club. They have 2 loses to 2 middle of the pack teams. Then need to win at home.
Longford Town opened against Dundalk away and lost a very competitive game 0-1. Then this club had to face Shamrock Rovers and lost today 0-2. They should be ok....competitive if they can get a win.
Thing don't look good for wither Limerick or Bray. There seems to be a lack of interest at their stadums.
